haiku in the dark

i have not else left
it has been taken from me
i am empty now

before me lies dark
fear grips me with a cold hand
i shudder alone

forward i step out
planting my foot unstable
i hesitate so

i cannot go back
i am no longer welcome
i must push forward

the dark pushes back
presses down upon me here
i cannot bear it
